To celebrate the announcement of our 2015 shortlist, we’re giving you the chance to win all eight of our shortlisted titles, signed by their respective critically acclaimed authors.


A pillar of the literary calendar, The Folio Prize recognises the best English-language fiction from around the world, regardless of form, genre or the author’s country of origin. This year’s shortlist includes:

Shortlisted authors will now appear alongside some of the world’s leading literary figures at The Folio Prize Fiction Festival. The three day event – Friday 20th March to Sunday 22nd March – will open with a new initiative for 2015: The Folio Society Lecture, delivered by internationally acclaimed author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

Competition terms and conditions:

  1. By entering the free prize draw (the “Prize Draw”) you agree to these terms and conditions.
  2. The Prize Draw is open to everyone, aged 18 or over, except for employees of The Folio Prize, their families, agencies or anyone else associated with this Prize Draw.
  3. Each entrant must be a registered user on Twitter or register with Twitter in order to enter the Prize Draw/
  4. To enter you must tweet the user @TheFolioPrize with a name of an author or book title from this year’s prize shortlist.
  5. Entrant must post a shortlisted author’s name or shortlisted book title in conjunction with mentioning @TheFolioPrize to be considered a viable entrant. The campaign Prize Draw begins at 15:00:01 GMT on Sunday 1st March 2015 and closes at 19:59:59 GMT on Thursday 19th March 2015 (the “Closing Date”). All entries must be received by the closing date or they will not be counted.
  6. Any entries by a person found to be using multiple Twitter accounts to enter the Prize Draw will be ineligible. The Folio Prize does not accept responsibility for network, computer, and hardware or software failures of any kind, which may restrict or delay the sending or receipt of your entry.
  7. You must not post violent, nude, partially nude, discriminatory, unlawful, infringing, hateful, pornographic, sexually suggestive or other inappropriate (at The Folio Prize’s sole discretion) pictures. The Folio Prize may, but has no obligation to, remove pictures that The Folio Prize determines in its sole discretion violates these Terms and Conditions.
  8. The Folio Prize complies with the standard procedures laid down in the UK Data Protection Act to ensure that the personal information you give us is kept secure and processed fairly and lawfully. We will not share your information with third parties for marketing purposes unless you have given us permission to do so.
  9. The winner of the Prize Draw will be the first entry drawn at random within two working days of the Closing Date. The winner will be notified by a Tweet or private direct message on Twitter by no later than one week after the Closing Date. Sponsor’s decision will be final. No correspondence will be entered into. There shall be one (1) winner of the prize.
  10. The Prize shall consist of one set of the eight titles shortlisted for The Folio Prize 2015, signed by their authors.
  11. Odds of winning the Prize depend on the total number of eligible entries received. The winner will be responsible for all expenses not specified in the Prize description above.
  12. If the Prize is not claimed within 48 hours of the winner being notified, The Folio Prize reserves the right to award the Prize to an alternative winner.
  13. Prize is non-transferable, non-refundable and non-negotiable. There is no cash alternative. The Folio Prize reserves the right to substitute the Prize (or any part thereof) for one of its choosing which has a value the same or greater than the original prize in the event of circumstances outside of its control.
  14. By entering the Prize Draw the winner agrees to participate in such promotional activity and material as The Folio Prize may require.
  15. Winner’s details will be available for 14 days after the Closing Date by sending a SAE to THE FOLIO PRIZE TWITTER COMEPTITION at the address below.
  16. This Prize Draw is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Twitter.
  17. The Folio Prize reserves the right to (i) cancel this Prize Draw, (ii) cancel or refuse any individual’s entry and (iii) amend these terms and conditions (and will use reasonable endeavors to notify changes to entrants and potential entrants).
